An undergraduate university degree or equivalent in management, with a major in accounting, or in accountancy, provided the candidate has successfully completed all relevant courses of the CMA path. All Quebec universities and the University of Ottawa offer bachelor’s programs (or the equivalent) that allow access to the CMA Entrance Examination. As part of such programs, students learn to master the basic tools of accounting. In addition to the basic training that all professional accountants receive, future CMAs will add specialized management accounting knowledge to their academic training.

CMA Entrance Examination CMA (June)
Success in the CMA Entrance Examination, which is designed to measure the student’s command of knowledge acquired at university.

 SLP – Phase 1 (Fall)
Development of integrative ability, judgment, analytical ability and communications skills.

Case Examination (May)
Success in the Case Examination is a prerequisite for admission to Phase 2 of the CMA Strategic Leadership Program (SLP) that candidates prepare for in Phase 1.

SLP – Phase 2 (Fall)
Application of problem-solving, decision-making, ethics and leadership.

Report to the Board (June)
The Report to the Board and the process of preparing it
are the final test of candidates’ ability to apply
CMA competencies and skills.
